Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser technologies associated with honestharvest.info, their purposes, duration and the controls available to you.
Last updated: 10 July 2026
1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy applies to honestharvest.info, operated by Honest Harvest at 11 Fernbank Street, Edinburgh EH3 7PX, United Kingdom. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use personal information more broadly. In this policy, “cookies” includes small text files stored by a browser and “similar technologies” includes local storage, pixels, tags and comparable mechanisms that remember information or communicate with a service when a page loads.
The site is designed to work with a limited set of technologies. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site behavioural profiling or social media tracking pixels in the current website. If that changes, we will update this policy and request any consent required before the relevant technology is activated.
2. What cookies and similar technologies do
A cookie usually contains a name, a value and an expiry instruction. It may be placed for the duration of a browsing session or remain until a set date, unless you remove it first. Local storage serves a similar memory function but is held in the browser rather than automatically sent with every request. These technologies can remember a preference, maintain a secure session, support a form, measure broad usage patterns or enable embedded content.
A technology may be “first party” when set for honestharvest.info or “third party” when set by another domain whose service is used on the page. The party that determines the purpose and means of a technology is relevant to how information is controlled. Merely calling every technology a cookie does not change the need to explain its purpose and, where required, obtain a valid choice.
3. Current essential preference storage
When you choose “Accept All”, “Partial” or “Functional” on the cookie banner, the website stores the key calmKitchenCookieChoice in your browser’s local storage. Its value records the category you selected so the banner does not reappear on every page. This preference is functional and does not contain your name, email address or course message. It stays in that browser until you clear site data or the website changes the preference logic.
Essential security or delivery technologies may also be used by the hosting environment to route traffic, balance demand and protect forms from automated misuse. These are used only where reasonably necessary to provide a service requested by the visitor or protect the website. They are not used by Honest Harvest to create advertising profiles.
4. Cookie categories shown in the banner
Functional
This is the minimum choice. It permits storage needed to remember the preference itself and allows ordinary website functions to operate. Blocking all browser storage may cause the banner to return and may affect form or accessibility preferences. Functional storage is not used to infer your interests across other websites.
Partial
This choice permits functional storage and would allow limited, privacy-conscious measurement if Honest Harvest activates it in future. No standalone analytics library is included in the present website build, so selecting Partial does not currently create an analytics profile. Before a non-essential measurement tool is introduced, this policy will identify the provider, purpose, lifespan and relevant controls.
Accept All
This choice records permission for all categories described in the current banner. Because the present site does not deploy advertising trackers or a standalone analytics library, “all” remains limited to the technologies actually described and active. It is not blanket permission for undisclosed future tools. A materially new purpose will require fresh information and, where required, a new choice.
5. External resources and network requests
The website loads typography from Google Fonts and styling support from the Tailwind CSS content delivery network. When your browser requests an external resource, the receiving provider may receive technical request information such as your internet protocol address, browser details, requested file, referring page and time. Honest Harvest does not receive a list of your browsing activity from those providers and does not use these requests for targeted advertising.
External providers have their own operational logs and privacy terms. We keep dependencies limited and do not load external image libraries, social media feeds or advertising networks. If your browser or network blocks an external font, the site will fall back to a standard local typeface and the principal content will remain available.
6. Consent and when it is required
UK privacy rules generally require clear information and consent before storing or accessing information on a user’s device, unless the technology is strictly necessary for a service the user requested. Where consent is the basis, it must be a genuine, informed choice and should be as easy to withdraw as to give. Honest Harvest does not interpret scrolling, silence or continued use as consent to optional technologies.
The banner provides three choices rather than presenting acceptance as the only route. The website records the selected level locally. If an optional tool is introduced, its script should be prevented from loading until the relevant level has been chosen. A service essential for security, page delivery or a form explicitly requested by you may operate without optional consent where the legal exemption applies.
7. How to change or withdraw a choice
You can reset the banner by clearing site data for honestharvest.info in your browser. Most browsers place this control under privacy, cookies, site data or storage settings. After removal, refresh the page and the banner will appear again. You can then choose a different level. Browser instructions vary by product and version, so consult the official help material for the browser you use.
You may also configure the browser to block cookies, delete them when it closes or ask before certain storage is used. Blocking essential storage does not prevent you from reading the main website, but it may mean preferences are not remembered or a form needs to be completed again. Changes apply to the particular browser and device; a choice made on a laptop will not automatically copy to a phone.
8. Retention and expiry
The cookie preference remains in local storage until you remove it, reset browser data or a change to the website causes the choice to be requested again. Session-based security data, where used by the hosting provider, normally expires when the browsing session ends or after a short period of inactivity. Operational security logs created by the server are generally separate from cookies and are normally retained for no more than 90 days unless a specific incident requires further investigation.
If optional analytics is added later, we will prefer short, proportionate retention and aggregated reporting. The relevant table and provider details will be added before activation. We will not describe a persistent technology as temporary or retain raw identifiers indefinitely merely because storage is technically available.
9. Information connected with cookies
A preference value alone may not identify a person by name. However, online identifiers and request data can be personal information when they relate to an identifiable user or device. Where cookie-related information is personal information, the practices in our Privacy Policy apply, including security, sharing, international transfer safeguards, retention and applicable rights.
We do not attempt to combine the local preference value with your contact form details to build an interest profile. A form submission and a cookie choice serve different purposes. Technical information may be reviewed alongside a submission only where reasonably necessary to diagnose a failed request, investigate misuse or protect the integrity of the service.
10. Third-party changes and embedded services
A future course session may use a separate video meeting platform. That platform is not embedded automatically in the public pages and will have its own privacy and cookie information when you follow its joining link. The course confirmation will identify the platform before a session. Honest Harvest is not responsible for a third party changing its independent cookies, but we will choose providers carefully and communicate material information within our control.
Links to an external website do not themselves place that website’s cookies on honestharvest.info. A cookie may be set after you choose the link and visit the external service. Review that service’s controls before continuing if you do not want optional technologies on its pages.
11. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy when technology, providers, legal requirements or website features change. The revision date at the top shows when the text was last reviewed. If a change introduces a materially different optional purpose, we will not rely on an old choice that did not cover it. We will update the banner and request a new preference where required.
